This section explains the Define Industry Codes (IDIN) screen and its associated fields.
The [NAICS|NAICS] is a common industry classification system developed by Statistics Canada, Mexico’s Estadística, Georgrafía e Informática and the Economic Classification Policy Committee of the United States Office of Management and Budget (U.S. Census Bureau).
Industry codes are used in reports to Statistics Canada and Equal Opportunities reports.
The NAICS has a hierarchical six-digit numbering structure. The first two digits designate the sector, the third digit represents the sub-sector, the fourth digit represents the industry group, the fifth digit represents the NAICS industries, and the sixth digit designates the national
industry (if applicable).
A starter script is provided to load the two-digit sector codes and several examples of the four-digit industry codes.
Industry Codes are stored in the [P2K_CM_INDUSTRIES] table.
;[Industry|INDUSTRY_CODE]:This field holds the six-digit industry codes for NAICS. If Industry Codes are not provided to your company by various government bodies, please contact your local branch of Statistics Canada, Estadística, Georgrafía e Informática or the U.S. Census Bureau. You must either select from the values provided or make a manual entry.
;[Industry Sector | INDUSTRY_SECTOR]:‘Sector’ is the description of the two-digit sector code provided. Industry_Sector is a mandatory [fixed lexicon|FIXED LEXICON] ([X_INDUSTRY_SECTOR]) you must use to look up the value.
;[Description|DESCRIPTION]:This field describes the industry code.
