The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) is a common industry classification system developed by Statistics Canada, Mexico’s Estadística, Georgrafía e Informática and the Economic Classification Policy Committee of the United States Office of Management and Budget (U.S. Census Bureau).

Industry codes are used in reports to Statistics Canada and Equal Opportunities reports.

The NAICS has a hierarchical six-digit numbering structure. The first two digits designate the sector, the third digit represents the sub-sector, the fourth digit represents the industry group, the fifth digit represents the NAICS industries, and the sixth digit designates the national industry (if applicable).
