Seed Data is provided as part of a release to give initial values, and system required values to a variety of system constructs.

The elements of the system that are considered seed data are listed below. Seed data is processed during a release as follows:

  1. All records of the seed data area are set to "Obsolete"
  2. The seed data is loaded, which refreshes the values to the system-defined values, and changes the status from "Obsolete" to "Pre-Loaded"
  3. Any remaining values that are still "Obsolete" may now be deleted. There may be referential integrity constraints that prevent the actual physical deletion of an obsolete value, and this is okay.

It is for this reason, that it is imperative that you mark any modifications in these areas that you make as "User Defined" or they will be replaced with the next release.
