DEFINE SHIFTS#
A Shift is a time period within a day during which work is done.
In certain industries, a system of shifts is required to keep operations running effectively. The rules determining the start, stop, meal, and break times etc. vary by shift. Shifts sometimes need to be divided into a smaller number of periods called ‘time slots’.
- Shift details are date sensitive.
- The shifts are used in ITSP to define shift patterns, and those shift patterns are assigned to a work team on the Work Stations (ITWS) screen.
- It is not necessary to track lunch or break periods if not required by an organization.
Note that if a shift crosses midnight and into the next day, this continuation of the shift is indicated with a ‘+’ sign in front of the time indicated.
The definition data for the Define Shifts screen is stored in the P2K_TS_SHIFTS table.
