MAINTAIN GOVERNMENT REGISTRATIONS#

Government Registrations identify all the types of taxation and filing that must be done with each applicable government department or level.

Government registrations may be established and maintained through the Maintain Government Registrations (IDGV) form.

This form stores all levels of government registration numbers.

Entity
Government registration codes are set up for each entity.
Govt Regist Set
This field displays the name of the government registration set. You may use ‘Govt Registration Set’ to group similar registrations together.
For example:
Govt Regist Set - MAIN REGIST - Used by Personality as default to group all registrations initially.
Govt Regist Set - REGIST 2 - User may define another set for all levels of registrations for this set.
Govt Regist Set - FED REGIST - User may define Federal level registrations for this set.
Govt Regist Set - STATE REGIST - User may define state level registrations for this set.
Govt Regist Set - LOCAL REGIST - User may define local level registrations for this set.
Govt Regist Set - FULLTIME REGIST - User may define registrations for full time employees for this set.
Govt Regist Set - PARTTIME REGIST - User may define registrations for part time employees for this set.
Govt Regist Set - SEASONAL REG - User may define registrations for seasonal employees for this set.
Govt Regist Set - STATE OHIO - User may define registration for Ohio for this set.

Registration Types#

U.S. Registration Types
A government registration is required for each tax type for each tax jurisdiction that must be filed. There will be one or many federal registrations for each EIN (Employer Identification number) assigned to you by the Social Security Administration (SSA). In addition, there will be one or many registrations for each State and Local jurisdiction where an organization is required to withhold taxes, unemployment or disability insurance.

Canadian Registration Types

A government registration is required for each federal and provincial tax withholding type that must be calculated. There will be one or more registrations for each Business Number assigned to you by Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA), and one or more registrations for each provincial tax, health tax or withholding that is made.

Government Registration data is stored in the P2K_CM_GOVT_REGIST_SETS, P2K_CM_GOVT_REGISTRATIONS, P2K_CM_GOVT_RATES, and P2K_CM_GOVT_RATE_DETAILS tables.
Country Name
This field displays the country of registration.
State/Province
This field holds the state or province of registration.
County
This field displays the county of registration. U.S. only
School District
This field displays the school district of registration. U.S. only
Jurisdiction
This field displays the city or county of registration. U.S. only
Registration Type
This field displays the type of taxation for which a government registration has been created.
Number
This is the US EIN or Canada BN number for this registration type.
Registration For
This is a derived field which displays which country, state/province, county or school district the registration is defined for.
Description
This is a user-defined description of the Government Registration.
Distribution Mask CR
If the distribution credit mask needs to vary based on the state, local, etc. that the employee is being taxed in then the override needs to be placed here.
Distribution Mask DR
If the distribution debit mask needs to vary based on the state, local, etc. that the employeeis being taxed in then the override needs to be placed here.
Govt Rate Type
If the standard rate needs to be overridden then the type needs to be indicated.
Description
User defined description of why the rate is being overridden.
Effective as of
This field displays the effective date of the override amount.
Expires on
This field displays the expiry date of the override amount.
Amount $
The amount/rate/value of the override.
Change Reason
The reason for the change of rate is supplied here.
