In this example, Pay Component (PC) 3210 is for Computer Loan and is keyed on the Sundry form (IPSN).

On the PC Detail Rules tab, define the following:

  1. A PC is required for the declining balance and one may be used for the original amount, if desired for information purpose only. In this example, PC 3212 is defined to store the declining balances. The original amount is in PC 3211.
  2. The declining balance and original amount PCs, set up on IPPC, can optionally have Store Results off. This will only mean that the PCs for the declining balance and the original amount will not be displayed as a pay amount or stored in the To Date table. This will not affect the way the declining balance is calculated.
  3. When adding the Deduction PC (3210) to the IPPC Details, you must use PC Detail Type = Computed Value (There can only be ONE Computed Value).
    • Calc Method = EV Entered Value or EV x Elem
  4. When adding the Declining Balance PC (3212) to the deduction IPPC Details for the PC 3210, you must use
    • PC Detail Type = Declining Balance
    • Calc Method = NOT required
  5. When adding the Original Amount (optional) PC (3211) to the deduction IPPC Details for the deduction PC 3210, you must use
    • PC Detail Type = Entered Value
    • Calc Method = NOT required.
  6. When adding the IPSN:
    • Enter the Assignment, Frequency, Date, Pay Component, and Value of the deduction.
    • Save
    • Manually key in the Declining Balance and Original Amount details area of the sundry form in the ‘Override’ fields.

Although the audit process (UPAUDT) will reduce the declining balance for flat amount deductions, and UPCALC will reduce the declining balance for calculated amounts, the sundry is not officially updated until the close process (UPCLOZ), to allow for insufficient earnings and user calc editing to be considered.
