Components to Calculate Earnings and Percentages (A400-A699)#

It may be necessary for a policy to track a percentage of earnings (rather than a calculation of Time Earned x Wage Rate) as the basis of entitlement. In other cases, information about earnings may be used for information purposes, but not used in the calculation of entitlement.

The following group of attendance components allow users to specify groups of earnings that will be reported, and, if necessary, a percent to be applied against those earnings and the resulting amount.

These components may or may not be part of the entitlement, and may or may not be reported to the employee through the use of leave lines or associated payroll components. Users decide how these amounts are used with component.

Earnings Elements#

Earnings Elements are used to group the payroll components that make up a type of earnings. For example, regular earnings may consist of payroll components for regular earnings and overtime, whereas supplemental earnings may consist of bonus earnings or commission earnings.

Earnings Percentages#

Percentages are applied against the applicable earnings element. These percentages may be derived based on employee’s Service Level, defined for the entire policy, or may also be entered manually for individual employees.

Earnings Amounts#

These components define which rule will be used to derive the final Earnings Amount, and to hold the final calculated value. Users may choose to use the Element x Percentage method, or create a custom calculation with the UserCalc tool.

In the following pages, the Calculate Earnings & Percentage Components are grouped using the component types noted above.
