California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) has introduced a new XML-based interface for its next generation of application interfaces. This document describes the set up required to support this interface.
To generate the new XML based interface file, the UPPHF function is used to create a file, based upon payroll information. The benefit plan still exists to do the computations, but all the data is now reported out of the payroll side and no computation is performed by the interface program, as was the case with the UPCAPERS function, which will be obsolescent once the CalPERS file format is in full use.
an interface definition is provided for the CalPERS XML format, and requires minor adjustments for each customer. The interface format derives all of its information through elements, pay components, lexicons and user defined fields as noted in this set up document.
