The WWW_EMPLOYEE role is a business role which grants access to the Employee Self Service module, it does not grant execution rights.
The WWW_% business roles determine which web menu and splash the employee has access to. The WWW_EMPLOYEE web role is tied to the ESS MAIN web menu and to the ESS_SPLASH which will display all of the Employee related self service functions the employee has execution rights to.
