When editing pages just keep the following rules in mind:

General#

  • Write in a way that is easy to understand and avoid local slang or phrases. Many of those who will read your text may not have English as their first language.
    • Avoid the "click here" phrase!! Don't say: "More info about etiquette can be found here" but use "More info about etiquette can be found at WikiEtiquette". I'd suggest avoiding it for external links as well.

Wiki Page names#

In this Wiki the links are written using the [link] notation. That is a page is referenced within [ and ] brackets. The page name is case sensitive, as far as its indexing goes, and if you are on a case-sensitive operating system, there will be different pages for WikiEtiquette and WIKIEtiquette.

A Wiki Page Name can not be a number. Numeric names are used for footnotes.

Writing text#

You don't need to know anything about the Wiki text formatting rules to use Wiki. Just write normal text, and then use an empty line to mark a paragraph. It's just like writing an email. there is a powerful formatting capability, and a WYSIWYG toolbar to help you with the common ones. You don't have to know HTML or anything fancy like that to make things useful.
