The purpose of this time rule is to ensure that when time is brought into payroll, the correct adjustments are made so that the time is allocated to the appropriate FLSA period. This was originally designed for employees that work a 9/80 calendar period and the FLSA period ends on a specific day.
In order to use this time rule there is set up required.
The key attributes for creating the time rule are :
When the FLSA end date is the last day of the pay period, the negative adjustment will be applied in the current pay period. When the next pay period time sheet is processed, the time rule applies the positive entry on the first day of the pay period.
Other time rules should not target this time code. If the FLSA adjustment time code is not targeted then they will not be affected.
FLSA ADJUST Example:
Date | Start Time | End Time | Time Code | Value |
---|---|---|---|---|
13-Oct-2008 | 07:00 | 12:00 | Reg Hrs | 5.00 |
13-Oct-2008 | 13:00 | 17:00 | Reg Hrs | 4.00 |
14-Oct-2008 | 07:00 | 12:00 | Reg Hrs | 5.00 |
14-Oct-2008 | 13:00 | 17:00 | Reg Hrs | 4.00 |
15-Oct-2008 | 07:00 | 12:00 | Reg Hrs | 5.00 |
15-Oct-2008 | 13:00 | 17:00 | Reg Hrs | 4.00 |
16-Oct-2008 | 07:00 | 12:00 | Reg Hrs | 5.00 |
16-Oct-2008 | 13:00 | 17:00 | Reg Hrs | 4.00 |
17-Oct-2008 | 08:00 | 12:00 | Reg Hrs | 4.00 |
17-Oct-2008 | 13:00 | 17:00 | Reg Hrs | 4.00 |
Mon Oct 13th - Total Hrs Worked = 9
Tue Oct 14th - Total Hrs Worked = 9
Wed Oct 15th - Total Hrs Worked = 9
Thur Oct 1th - Total Hrs Worked = 9
Total Hours Worked = 36 hrs
Fri Oct 17th - Total Hrs Worked = 8
When the time rule is applied, the following entries are created (and visible on the VIEW AUDIT) tab of the time sheet. Note that the time above the cutoff FLSA period (e.g. 12:00pm) is coded against the time code FLSA ADJUST as a negative amount for the day of the week when the FLSA period ends (e.g. Friday October 17th, 2008). The amount of time from the cutoff period (12:00pm) to the end of the shift/time the employee clocks out time (13:00pm-17:00) is four hours. Therefore the system will move the time from one day (17-Oct-2008) and adds it to the next day (18-Oct-2008).
Date | Start | End | TC | Value |
---|---|---|---|---|
17-Oct-2008 | 13:00 | 17:00 | FLSA ADJUST | -4.00 |
18-Oct-2008 | FLSA ADJUST | 4.00 |
The system will automatically adjust the FLSA hours from one day to the next (e.g Negative four hours from Oct 17th 2008 and positive four hours on Oct 18th 2008)
When the timesheets are brought into IPPH, the FLSA adjustment hours are coded against the correct date.
