Grid data, initially, is shown in a sorted order based upon the column order in the grid.

This data can be resorted in two ways:

  • Clicking on the top of a column (on the column title) will sort ascending / descending as you toggle it (clicking once is ascending, clicking again will sort descending)
  • Clicking on a column header and dragging it to the beginning of the grid.

The initial order of data is shown in the IMFD screen, in the Form Layout tab. Be aware that in some grid areas, hidden columns that are at the beginning of the data area will force the sort by those values. When this hidden column is an ID, the records are shown in order that they were created. IMFD also allows you to define that a column is sorted descending.

Re-sorting data by dragging grid columns around results in an entry in the Windows Registry to store this information. This allows for these changes to be "remembered" on a client computer basis (not by user ID). The Registry data is stored in \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\highlinecorp\professional\swing.
