RAW_GOVERNMENT_CODE is a 16-character alphanumeric field used to hold the encrypted employee’s government identification number. When a column is encrypted, that actual column will be blanked out to NULL, in this example, the GOVERNMENT_CODE field, and the encrypted value is stored in the RAW type field on the same record. This ensures the data cannot be read in clear text.
