ISWS - Setting up Wage Scales Using the Percentage of Base Column#
Using this method to set up a Wage Scale, only one wage rate is initially entered with all following scale step wage rates calculated by the system based on the percentages entered.
There must be one record set up with the % of Base as 100. This is the Base Record on which the wage rate for all other steps will be calculated from.
First, using the Add Step button, enter the Seq #, Step, Scale Rate, for the base rate. When the record is created, select the Rate Basis and add 100 in the % of base field. Following this other steps can be entered by entering the Seq #, Step, and the original wage rate (The selected Rate Basis will be defaulted into subsequent records). When the line is created, add the percent and the wage rate will be recalculated. The new wage rate will be re-calculated automatically based on the percentage entered applied to the Base Rate wage rate.
If the base wage rate is $10.00 then first scale step record entered will look like this:
Seq # | Step | Effective As Of | Scale Rate | Basis | % of Base |
5 | 5 | 01-Jan-0001 | 10.00 | HR | 100 |
Subsequent records entered, using the Add Step button and a default 10.00 wage rate will appear as follows once the percentage has been added:
Seq # | Step | Effective As Of | Scale Rate | Basis | % of Base |
4 | 4 | 01-Jan-0001 | 8.50 | HR | 85 |
5 | 5 | 01-Jan-0001 | 10.00 | HR | 100 |
6 | 6 | 01-Jan-0001 | 10.50 | HR | 105 |
When a Mass Scale Update is applied, only the Base Rate (%100) record needs to be updated. All other steps will be automatically updated based on the value in the % of base field.
If
USWS is run to update wage scales using the % of Base, only the Base Rate will be updated. It is not necessary to defined this step in the Report Filters as by default, only the Base %100 record is updated with all other wage rates calculated based on the % of base.
