!!!DEFINE BUSINESS CALENDAR

Calendars are schedules, which define periods of time that are needed to plan and manage human resource activities such as monthly benefits administration, as well as financial information such as general ledger periods.

This section explains the Define Business Calendars (IDCL) screen and its associated fields.

Annual, fiscal, quarterly, monthly and weekly calendars are used for a variety of purposes, and they may begin and end at any point during a calendar year.

Typical examples of calendars include the [FLSA] calendar, General Ledger calendar (Fiscal Calendar) and Benefit Remittance calendar.

The Calendar details contain the individual time periods that make up a calendar or schedule.

New calendars are not created each year, new periods within the calendars are added.

Define Business Calendar data is stored in the [P2K_CM_CALENDARS] and [P2K_CM_CALENDAR_DETAILS] tables.

;[Calendar | CALENDAR_CODE]:This field displays the user-defined calendar code, which uniquely identifies the calendar.
;[Description | DESCRIPTION]:This field describes the function or purpose of the calendar.
;[Extend Calendar | EXTEND_CALENDAR]:This button will allow you to extend the current calendar into the following year. e.g. If you had a calendar for the year 2003 and wanted to extend it by one year, by clicking on this button, the system would generate new rows for 2004.
;[Calendar Period | CALENDAR_PERIOD]:‘Period’ is the year and period that uniquely identifies the calendar period. The calendars are defined in the format of CCYY-PP, where CC is the century, YY is the year and PP is the period. For example – period 2003-01 may be for April 15 to May 14, 2003. When users enter CCYYPP (200301), the dash (-) between the year and period will be automatically formatted to 2003-01. A monthly calendar for the calendar year Jan-Dec 2003 would have calendar periods 2003-01 through 2003-12. A weekly calendar for the fiscal year Apr2003-Mar2004 would have calendar periods 2004-01 through 2004-52 or 2004-53.
;[Start Date | CALENDAR_START_DATE]:This field displays the start date of the calendar period.
