This field holds the GEO code/ GNIS Code of the city, county or state used for taxation purposes. ---- __Vertex Users__ GEO CODE is a [Vertex|VERTEX] construct that defines the tax jurisdiction for all taxes. It is comprised of three elements, separated by hyphens. __18-025-1296__ is an example of a GEO Code which represents the following structure: __18__-000-0000 is the state level (in this case Kentucky) which can be used to tax only at state level __18-025__-0000 is the county level (in this case Breathitt County) which can be used to tax only at county level __18-025-1296__ is the city level (in this case Jasckson, Kentucky) which would be used to tax at the city level. You do not need to identify tax jurisdictions down to the finest level, if there is no local (county and city) taxation. For example, __44-281-0241__ is the city level GEO Code for Adamsville, Texas in Lampasas county, but we could simply use __44-000-0000__ (State of Texas) for this location or employee for taxation purposes as there is no county or city level taxation [Vertex|VERTEX] provides a complete list of all the GEO Codes in a file that can be loaded into the [P2K_CM_TAX_JURISDICTIONS] table using the process described in [UDTX]. ---- __Symmetry Users__ GNIS code is the Symmetry version of the Vertex GEO code. GNIS Code Format is: SS-CCC-FFFFFFF, where: |SS|State FIPS Numeric Code|2 digits |CCC|County Code|3 digits |FFFFFFF|City Feature ID|Variable Length, 4 to 7 digits The GNIS Code forms a unique combination of State, County, City, Municipality and School Districts that will be used in the system. Each combination of State, County, City, Municipality and School Districts will form a tax jurisdiction that is eligible for tax calculation when an employee is being paid under this tax jurisdiction GNIS Codes may be loaded into the table [P2K_CM_TAX_JURISDICTIONS] by running the function [UDGNIS]. The GNIS Codes / Tax Jurisdictions may be viewed in the screen [IDTX]. ---- ![Notes|Edit:Internal.GEO_CODE] [{InsertPage page='Internal.GEO_CODE' default='Click to create a new notes page'}]
