A fixed lexicon is a lexicon that has values supplied to you that are part of the system seed data. The values that a fixed lexicon imparts are fixed inasmuch as there is usually programming that is looking for specific values.
Rules regarding fixed lexicons:
- If you delete any fixed lexicon values, they will be re-added when this seed data is next reloaded
- Changing the descriptive meaning (display value|LEX_ABBREVIATION) of this lexicons is discouraged because:
- The original descriptive meaning will be restored when you reload this seed data next
- There may be specific programing that will be confounded by a user's expectation (given the change in meaning)
- Adding new values to this lexicon is discouraged because:
- Any values added will be removed when the seed data is next reloaded
- There will be no programming to support your additions.
If you have a need to add to a fixed lexicon, it is recommended you contact Support through the Customer Care system.
