ETHNIC is a field which allows the user to record the individual's ethnic background. When this field is used in connection with a candidate the field is optional field; however, if this candidate is to be hired, the field MUST be completed. When the field is used in connection with an employee, the field is mandatory.
For U.S. Installations: The ethnic code (or race of an employee) is used for Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action reporting.
For Canadian Installations: Ethnic origin of an employee is used for Employment Equity
reporting.
