Converting records from one Human Resource and Payroll system to another is never a simple or straight forward process. The data will need to be extracted from the legacy system in a format that can be loaded into the Oracle interface tables and then converted into the application tables. At each step in the process the data can be modified to meet the table requirements and integrity constraints of the application. This will usually require custom scripts or reports to extract the data, modification tokens in the SQL Loader control files or SQL scripts to modify the data in the interface tables before running the conversion procedures. A combination of all three options can also be used for some of the more complex conversion tables.
The following conversion examples are meant to provide a better understanding of the conversion process. They can also be used as a guideline for the conversion of these tables, if they are included in the list of data that is available for conversion into the application. These examples represent some of the more challenging conversion processes and provide possible methods of converting records to meet the unique data requirements for these tables.
