Field#
COMPONENT_STRING is an alphanumeric field that is used internally to improve the performance of element-based calculations.It contains the internal ID of each pay component that is defined in the element, delimited by a pipe character (|) and prefixed by a plus or minus, to indicate adding or subtracting.
This structure is maintained automatically by the application, but if it should ever get out of synchronization, setting the values to NULL will have it recompute the contents on the next UPCALC, or you can run the script FIX_ELEMENT_STRING which will r0set all these values.
