Forms containing requests that require approval have a special display block called the Approval Bar. This bar is only visible if one or more approvals are required. Once the request is fully approved, declined or cancelled, the bar disappears.
The Approval Bar is divided into sections, each representing an approval step in a multi-level approval process. If there is only one step in the approval process, there will be only one section.
All users see the Approval Bar until the necessary approvals are given but only authorized approvers can take an approval action. Approvers see red arrows with check and delete icons. Approvers approve or disapprove by clicking these icons. Other users see green arrows without the check and delete icons.
Once an approval is given, the section of the Approval Bar corresponding to the step that was approved holds the name of the approver with a timestamp of when the approval was done.
Approvers that have the power to approve all steps “up to” a specified step may see multiple red arrows if there are several steps waiting for approval. They would normally approve the highest step. The others would be marked as completed as part of the process.
Screen captures are meant to be indicative of the concept being presented and may not reflect the current screen design.
