Excess Over Cap {optional}#
This component indicates whether excess time is credited back to the employee or works on a ‘use it or lose it’ basis.
Will there be excess time over the cap indicated?
Yes: Choose the rule to be usedNo: Go to A350
Rule | Description | Logic | Assoc. | Go to |
01 | Give Excess Time Back to Employee | Derives the difference between the cap and the time owing, and creates a Leave Line for this amount. If a <PC Code> is specified, this amount will also be recorded in the as a pay component amount to be paid out to the employee. The AC Action must be ‘Log to Leave Line’ | A290 A330 | A345 |
02* | Time Lost | Derives the difference between the cap and the time owing, and creates a leave line for this amount. Users specify, through their choice of PC Codes, that this time is lost rather than paid out. Users may also choose to not record this time lost in a pay component, but rather to just show the lost time on the Leave Lines. | A290 A330 | A350 |
The two rules above are actually the same rule. For both, the program does the same processing in which the difference between the cap and time owing is calculated and a leave line is created.
If a <Pay Component> is specified, the amount will be stored in that pay component. It is the user’s decision to specify a pay component, and the setup of the pay component that determines whether or not the excess amount is paid to the employee. The two different rules have been created to make the intent of the policy clear at a glance.
Although Time Lost is often not shown on the employees’ payroll stubs, it may be useful to record the lost time in a pay component to allow for cost balancing on the financial ledgers.
