Prorate by FTE Rule {optional}#
This component specifies which factor is used to determine the FTE value when prorating entitlement.
Is the entitlement to be prorated based on an employee’s standard hours or FTE?
Yes: Choose the rule to be used
No: Go to A290
Rule | Description | Logic | Assoc. | Go to |
---|---|---|---|---|
00 | Derive from User Calc only | Uses the value returned by the specified <UserCalc> as the prorated entitlement. The UserCalc must be of the type ‘Function’, with a return value of the type ‘Numeric’. Use the RET operator to return the Numeric value. The value is interpreted by the component as a user supplied FTE value by which the period entitlement will be multiplied. | A260 Rule01 Rule02 | A290 |
01 | Prorate by Employee’s Daily Hours | Calculates: Period Entitlement (A260) x EE hours per day (IEAS) / Standard hours per day (IDGR) | A260 Rule01 Rule02 | A290 |
02* | Prorate by Employee's Weekly Hours | Calculates: Period Entitlement (A260) x EE hours per Week (IEAS) / Standard hours per Week (IDGR) | A260 Rule01 Rule02 | A290 |
03* | Prorate by Employee's FTE Value | Calculates: Period Entitlement (A260) x Employee’s FTE value (IEAS) | A260 Rule01 Rule02 | A290 |
It may appear that Rules 01, 02 and 03 will give the same entitlement for an employee who works less than full time.
For example, an employee who works half days (4 hours each day instead of the group standard 8, with an FTE of 0.5) would get the same entitlement regardless of the rule chosen. However, if an employee in the same group may works 7.5 hours per day, but is still considered a full time employee with an FTE of 1.0, then choosing Rule 01 would give them a reduced entitlement and choosing Rule 03 would give them a full entitlement.
This component allows users to choose which measure (hours per day, hours per week, or FTE value) is most appropriate for their site.
